"exclude vertices normals" per surface
« on: October 31, 2016, 10:57:28 AM »

Hello, Smiley

Today i needed to make a "welded surface", where all vertices are shared between triangles and no vertices share the same position. (then if i want to alter the properties of the vertices of a surface, it is easier to retrieve the wanted vertices in code if there are only one vertex at each position and triangles share vertices)

This functionality already exists in Fragmotion, but it is for the whole mesh (all surfaces), you call it ""exclude vertices normals", when exporting a mesh.

It would be useful to have the same functionality per surface, in most cases i will use one or several smoothinggroups to make the surface look good, but sometimes i need to have a "welded surface".

Can you please add this functionality ? (i can send you the procedure in Blitz3d code if you want, but apparently your procedure to export the mesh with "exclude vertices normals" already does that)

Thanks,

After some tests, applying a smoothinggroup180 on a surface somehow does not weld some surfaces (where all vertices are shared between triangles and there is no duplicated vertices, whatever the angle between 2 triangles which share a vertex), so a functionality to "exclude vertices normals" per surface would be very useful (when you have some time)

Thanks,
