Is the vta format identical to smd?  Try renaming a vta file to use the smd extension and then import it into fragmotion.

from what I've read the smd is not the same format (exactly) The vta format lists the location of each vertex and its normals for each time interval. (I assume key frames)

I suppose there's no need to have fragmotion read the vta file if it does not move the vertexes anyway (this is half life 2's way of adding vertex morphing to the regular animation information. I can introduce it independently in my program. So no problem.

thanks for your suggestionl
