Can you enlighten my on what HitTestAxis does and what the hitflags are that it returns?

You can place an axis anywhere you want like the one at the origin (the 3 colored lines).  This function will perform hit testing on it if you want to make a simple widget that restricts movement to an axis line or plane.  Lookup AxisFlags for the possible flag settings.
