« on: July 07, 2009, 01:59:15 PM »

If you call them the exact same thing they should become one when merged.

Go into one file and change the bone name to the one you want to merge it with.

I don't know where they will be positioned. ...They will split the difference between the two locations I guess (like snap together does).

When the merge dialogue pops up make sure the skeleton box is checked.

You could just leave those bone out of your merge, re weighting vertixes of the merged in geometry(faces) to the extant bones.

To combine skeleton chains without resorting to merging in another file, is to just DragNDrop the chain you want to move or reparent in the Skeleton Pane.  There may be an offset however; but it's not hard to 'zero' the new chain's root on the new parent.  Or, just use the Bone Info Tool to get the current World and Local Coordinates of the Bone[node] to replicate any position you need.

The Bone Info Tool was one of my most favorite upgrades to the program, and dragging and dropping a skeleton around...another of my 'favs' at what the program is capable of, a lot of power under the hood for the price.

..enjoy!
